Farmington Missouri Personal Injury Attorney
Farmington was initially inhabited by William Murphy, who came to the area from Kentucky, in 1798. The land was still part of the Louisiana Territory and under Spanish rule. Local tradition holds that with the help of a local Indian, Murphy established a home place and obtained a Spanish Land Grant for the property, located along the St. Francois River. Murphy died on route back to Kentucky, and his family established the town in 1800. His son, David Murphy, donated some acreage to the city in 1822 and in 1825, Farmington was officially incorporated. The city grew with its inclusion on the St. Louis and Iron Mountain Railroad and is the county seat of St. Francois County.
