$275,000 Carter County jury verdict in auto accident case

Chris Yarbro obtained a $275,000 verdict in an automobile accident case. The case was presented to a Carter County jury over 2 days. Plaintiff admitted partial fault of the accident, but argued the Defendant was also at fault for driving at an excessive speed. The Defendant at all times argued the Plaintiff was 100% at fault, denying any responsibility to the accident. The jury ultimately sided with the Plaintiff, and gave a plaintiff’s verdict after 3 hours of deliberation. Plaintiff demanded settlement over the course of the litigation on 2 separate occasions, but the Defendant’s insurance company refused to make an offer of settlement or accept Plaintiff’s demands. Ultimately the verdict was more than thirteen times the last demand for settlement.
