Yarbro obtains $559,000 Workers Compensation settlement
Chris Yarbro settled a complicated workers compensation case. The client was injured during an auto accident while driving a tractor-trailer. The client’s employment was based in Mississippi and he was injured in Florida. Chris successfully argued Missouri had jurisdiction because the employment contract was entered into in Missouri. Additionally, the employer sought to avoid liability through arguing the accident was caused by the client having a stroke instead of a risk associated with his employment. However, all expert witnesses disagreed with this position.
Chris worked with local counsel in Mississippi and Florida to preserve the client’s claims in both states, pending a resolution within the Missouri case. The case settled after a failed mediation but before trial. The client received $559,000 in compensation.
