Hannah Harper Wins American Idol — and Southeast Missouri Wins With Her
The Super Sam Foundation Raffle for Her Autographed Martin Guitar Is Still Open
Hannah Harper is the American Idol.
Let that sink in. A 25-year-old mom from Willow Springs, Missouri — Reynolds County raised, bluegrass and gospel in her bones — just won the biggest music competition in the country. She did it her way. She did it on her own terms. And she did it for all of us.
We have watched Hannah every week. We cheered when Carrie Underwood called her one of her favorites after her audition, and we kept cheering through every round. Tonight she finished what she started.
Hannah closed the finale with an original song called “Married Into This Town.” Carrie Underwood — through tears — said she loved that Hannah started her Idol journey with an original song and chose to end it the same way. Lionel Richie called it fantastic. Luke Bryan thanked her for pouring her heart out week after week.
That is Hannah. Authentic every single time.
She grew up traveling and performing bluegrass and gospel music with her family band, The Harper Collective. She stepped away from performing to be a stay-at-home mom. Then she wrote “String Cheese” — a song about postpartum depression, about her son asking her to open his cheese, about God putting her exactly where she needed to be. She walked onto the American Idol stage with that song and never looked back.
We are proud to be part of her story. Kennedy, Robbins, Yarbro and Henson served as Platinum Sponsor of the Super Sam Foundation raffle featuring a Martin D-13E Retro guitar that Hannah personally signed. The Super Sam Foundation was founded by Cassie and Matt Santhuff — Reynolds County people, just like Hannah — after losing their son Sam to pediatric cancer. Sam wanted to help all the kids. That mission is still going.
The raffle is still open. The guitar Hannah signed is still available. Tonight felt like the right moment to enter, because that signature just became a piece of American Idol history.
Every ticket you purchase supports the Super Sam Foundation’s fight against childhood cancer in Missouri.
