Child Support

As experienced child support lawyers, we are able to guide you through the maze of child support obligations.

Divorced parents face different financial obligations for their children than their married counterparts. Missouri and Arkansas law provide that child support obligations continue until the child turns 18. Missouri law extends financial support for children of divorced parents to age 21, if provisions of the statute are followed regarding college education. The issue of child support is always before the court and either parent may be required to provide financial support based upon the custody provisions in place. It is important for the parent obligated to pay child support to remain current in his or her support obligation. It is a crime not to pay child support. Arkansas and Missouri’s Child Support Enforcement offices and the local prosecuting attorney can work together to file misdemeanor or felony charges. Child support determinations are always capable of review by the court by way of a motion to modify until the child is emancipated.
