
National Farmer’s Day
Today is National Farmer’s Day. Celebrated each year on October 12, it is an opportunity to thank farmers for their hard work, food and contribution to the overall economy. Missouri is home to more than 100,000 farms, spread across roughly 29 million acres. Each Missouri farmer, on average, feeds 150 people. Missouri ranks second nationwide in the number of farms, second in beef cows, second in hay production, third in horses, fourth in rice, seventh in soybeans, ninth in corn and tenth in cotton. Missouri exports more agricultural products than 34 other states. Obviously, the Missouri farmer is hard working.
