PWSD #1 of Washington County begins sewer project

Scott Robbins helped Public Water Supply District No. 1 of Washington County, Missouri, begin construction on its new sewer system today when the District officially borrowed $538,000.00 from USDA-RD. The total cost of the sewer project is $2,354,450, with the additional funds coming from grants made possible by USDA-RD and the State of Missouri Community Development Block Grant program.

The District’s project will construct a new sewer collection system to serve the area known as Springtown. Treatment for the wastewater will be provided by the Washington County Industrial Development Authority at a treatment plant located within the Al Britton Industrial Park. The City of Potosi will operate and maintain the plant. Once complete, the project will eliminate faulty septic systems that do not function properly and eliminate the untreated sewage that exists in the community. Approximately 220 households will receive service from this first phase of development.
