Robbins Working with Prairie Heights
Kennedy, Kennedy, Robbins & Yarbro, LC, is pleased to be working with the Prairie Heights Area Reorganized Common Sewer District, located outside the city limits of Bolivar, Missouri, on its upcoming sewer project. The District will be receiving more than $850,000 in assistance from USDA Rural Development to connect its wastewater collection system to the city of Bolivar’s. The Rural Development funds will consist of a $250,000 Water and Waste Disposal Loan and a separate grant of $602,500. The District is working with Stan Schultz of Schultz Engineering to design and construct the project.
The project will include the construction a new collection system, gravity mains, manholes and two sewage pump stations with force mains. The District will contract with the city of Bolivar for treatment of its wastewater. The existing lagoons serving the customers of the District will be closed in accordance with the Department of Natural Resources.
The city of Bolivar has agreed to sell wastewater treatment services to the District in exchange for a vested interest in the future ownership of the new sewer system. The city will have the option to own the District’s collection system one the loans are paid in full.
In announcing the funding package, Janie Dunning, the Rural Development State Director said “Without wastewater treatment facilities, residences and businesses would not exist. The Prairie Heights Area Reorganized Common Sewer District is taking proactive steps to construct a new wastewater collection and treatment system for long-term use.
