Yarbro Successful in Supreme Court of Missouri
Recently, Kennedy, Kennedy, Robbins & Yarbro, LC, partner, Chris Yarbro, had the opportunity to argue a unique real estate case in the Supreme Court of Missouri. The Supreme Court of Missouri is the highest state court under the Missouri Constitution.
Believing that the trial court was wrong in ruling against his clients, Yarbro appealed the decision to the Missouri Court of Appeals, Southern District. The Southern District agreed with Yarbro, however, the Supreme Court took jurisdiction due to the significance of the legal issues at stake. Ultimately, Yarbro’s legal arguments prevailed at the Supreme Court, and his clients received a favorable decision, saving the family farm.
The case is significant because the Supreme Court’s written opinion provides guidance in navigating centuries old contact law principles that were watered down through decades of sometimes inconsistent appellate court decisions. The decision caught the attention of several other firms across the State, including this summary of the case.
